1- The Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, received the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Syria, Abdullah Babah.
The meeting discussed areas of joint cooperation in the energy sector and reviewed available opportunities to develop the partnership in a way that serves mutual interests and enhances the prosperity and growth of the two brotherly peoples.
During the meeting, the Minister received an official invitation to visit the Kingdom of Morocco. He expressed his appreciation for this generous invitation, which reflects the strength of the fraternal relations between the two countries, and affirmed his anticipation that the visit would contribute to opening broader areas of partnership in the future.
2- The Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, reviewed the National Energy Information System aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and supporting decision-making, through a technical presentation on the system, attended by his assistants, CEOs, directors general of affiliated companies and institutions, as well as central directors concerned with digital transformation, data management, and energy sectors.
During the presentation, Eng. Abdul Karim Al-Jaafar, Director of the Digital Transformation and Technology Directorate, presented the vision of the system as a unified national digital platform for data from the oil, gas, electricity, water, and mining sectors. The platform enables the unification and integration of data sources within a comprehensive digital environment, providing instant access to information and operational indicators and supporting decision-making through advanced analytical tools.
The meeting also reviewed the system’s main components, including the national data portal, interactive dashboards, geographic maps, and project management systems, allowing performance monitoring, project implementation tracking, and the issuance of accurate real-time executive reports.
Eng. Al-Jaafar explained that the system provides more than 360 performance indicators with advanced analytical capabilities and instant alerts, supporting strategic planning, strengthening data governance, and enhancing integration between the Ministry’s sectors and affiliated entities.
The attendees emphasized the importance of continuing digital transformation projects and developing information systems due to their key role in improving management efficiency, developing the national data environment, and supporting the Ministry’s future vision of building an advanced digital energy sector.
3- The Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, issued a statement regarding the congestion and long queues witnessed at fuel stations recently, apologizing to every citizen who suffered or waited for hours to obtain fuel.
He confirmed that the Ministry had doubled supply quantities, accelerated transportation and distribution operations from the very beginning, and intensified monitoring of the fuel sector.
The Minister added that the Ministry recorded 179 violations within one week involving stations and storage facilities, and that it had begun implementing sustainable solutions to develop production, increase refinery capacity, and rehabilitate storage facilities and tanks, stressing that efforts would continue until the crisis becomes a thing of the past.
4- Key points from the speech of the CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Eng. Youssef Qabalaoui, during the launch of the Syrian-American Business Forum:
The first Syrian-American Business Forum represents an important step toward strengthening cooperation between Syria and the United States and supporting a new phase of economic openness.
Syria’s oil and gas sector holds promising investment opportunities due to its significant resources and potential, and plays a key role in supporting reconstruction.
The company is working according to a clear vision to enhance cooperation with international companies and attract foreign investments in the oil and gas sector.
The Syrian Petroleum Company has recently signed several important memorandums of understanding with global companies, most of which have developed into investment contracts in the energy sector.
The company is working on expanding investments in oil and gas, particularly offshore Syria, and transforming memorandums of understanding into contracts in the coming periods.
5- The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Eng. Youssef Qabalaoui, accompanied by John Bell, CEO of the British GulfSands Company, and the deputy CEOs of both companies, conducted a field tour of Dajla Oil Company’s work sites in Al-Hasakah Governorate to review production operations, current production rates, and development plans aimed at increasing field efficiency and production.
During the tour, GulfSands’ investment plan was reviewed following the lifting of force majeure, making it one of the first companies to resume operations and return to investment in Syria’s Dajla field. The plan includes rehabilitating existing wells and drilling new wells to increase production capacity and improve operational efficiency.
Eng. Qabalaoui stressed the importance of implementing development plans according to approved schedules and benefiting from modern technologies and specialized expertise to improve production efficiency, noting that GulfSands’ return to operations in Syria reflects growing confidence in the Syrian oil and gas sector and supports field development plans and international partnerships.
6- The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Eng. Youssef Qabalaoui, continued his field visits to oil sites by visiting the Rmeilan field in Al-Hasakah Governorate to review operational conditions after HKN Company took over field operations.
During the visit, Eng. Qabalaoui met with technical teams and workers, reviewed workflow and cooperation mechanisms between operational teams, and discussed challenges facing operations and ways to address them to ensure production stability and efficiency.
The visit also covered future field development plans, including rehabilitating inactive wells, drilling new wells, and implementing programs aimed at increasing production and optimizing oil resource investment.
Eng. Qabalaoui emphasized the importance of adhering to occupational health and safety standards, environmental protection, and developing comprehensive environmental management plans in line with safe oil field operations.
7- Under the sponsorship of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Saudi company ADES organized a specialized workshop on Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) for the Southern Central Region stations at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.
The workshop was attended by Eng. Walid Al-Youssef, Deputy CEO for Exploration and Production, Eng. Hisham Al-Saleh, Deputy CEO for Gas Affairs, and a number of specialists and technical personnel from both sides.
The workshop addressed operational risk studies for the stations in light of planned modifications and expansions within the development plan implemented by ADES in coordination with the Syrian Petroleum Company, aiming to enhance safety standards, improve operational efficiency, and ensure implementation according to the best engineering practices.
8- The workshops of the General Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Deir ez-Zor, in cooperation with UNICEF, began rehabilitation works for the drinking water station in Al-Tawbah town in the Al-Jazira area of the governorate as part of accelerating recovery plans in the drinking water sector.
According to Eng. Intisar Abdul Latif, the project supervisor, the project will serve approximately 20,000 residents, with rehabilitation works expected to take six months.
The project includes installing pumping units for untreated water, treated water pumping units, maintaining treated water tanks, carrying out mechanical and electrical works, installing chlorine and alum injection systems, replacing valves and pipes, rehabilitating the elevated tank with a capacity of 100 cubic meters, extending water pipelines, and installing a solar energy system for the station.
9- The workshops of the General Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Tartous completed the repair of the pumping line supplying the Baseera water project, restoring water services to approximately 25,000 beneficiaries.
10- Tankers were dispatched to distribute 407 gasoline shipments and 639 diesel shipments to fuel stations across all governorates to deliver the allocated quantities.
The total quantities amounted to 9.768 million liters of gasoline and 15.336 million liters of diesel, exceeding 25 million liters of both materials combined.
11- The Water Resources Directorate in Hama began cleaning the canals of the 17,400-hectare irrigation project, in addition to clearing the course of the Qastoun River in Al-Ziyara area, after a halt of more than 15 years.
These works aim to improve irrigation network efficiency, ensure smooth water flow to agricultural lands, support farmers benefiting from Qastoun Dam water, and positively impact agricultural production and sustainable water resource management in the region.
