1- The Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, announced the start of preparing work sites for the two power plants in Deir ez-Zor and northern Aleppo, marking the beginning of a new phase within the project. The Minister stated: “What was once a promise has become a reality taking shape on the ground, and our steps are accelerating steadily.”
2- The Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohammad Al-Bashir, discussed with a delegation from German companies specialized in oil, gas, water, and renewable energy the investment opportunities in vital energy projects in Syria.
The meeting addressed prospects for cooperation in several strategic projects, including the Arab Gas Pipeline, the Arab Oil Pipeline, and national water transfer projects, as well as ways to benefit from German expertise and provide specialized training programs for Syrian personnel.
The meeting comes within the framework of the Ministry of Energy’s efforts to expand international partnerships, benefit from global experiences in infrastructure development, and enhance the efficiency of the energy sector in line with national priorities.
3- The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Eng. Youssef Qabalaoui, inaugurated the activities of the Syria International Exhibition for Petroleum, Energy, and Mineral Resources “SirPetro 2026”, with wide participation from local, Arab, and international companies specialized in oil, gas, and energy fields.
The event reflects the growing interest in investment and the development of the energy sector in Syria.
4- The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Eng. Youssef Qabalaoui, discussed with Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies, ways to enhance cooperation in the oil and gas sector and reviewed future opportunities in exploration, development, and pipeline projects, supporting Syria’s energy sector development plans and strengthening partnerships with global companies.
In a related statement, Eng. Qabalaoui said that French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Syria represents an important milestone reflecting growing confidence in Syria and its promising opportunities, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.
He added that the visit is expected to contribute to strengthening economic cooperation and opening broader horizons for investments and quality partnerships that support reconstruction and development efforts and serve the interests of all parties.
5- The Syrian Petroleum Company participated in the Syrian-British Business Council (SBBC) conference in Damascus, with the participation of representatives from ministries and economic sectors from both countries.
Eng. Alaa Al-Din Mardeen, Director of Strategic Planning Operations and Project Management, presented the company’s vision and future plans, highlighting strategic partnerships with global energy companies to develop gas fields and increase production.
He also presented investment opportunities and strategic cooperation projects with the local private sector and international companies, including gas infrastructure development, oil and gas transportation pipelines, and the establishment of a specialized chemical complex.
The session was attended by Eng. Walid Al-Youssef, Deputy CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company for Exploration and Production.
6- The entities affiliated with the Ministry of Energy responsible for the fuel sector continue implementing an ongoing distribution plan to strengthen fuel supplies to the provinces.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy, on 4 July 2026, more than 1.75 million liters of gasoline were shipped to Damascus and Homs provinces, contributing to accelerating the supply of fuel stations and gradually reducing congestion.
The concerned entities continue receiving and unloading incoming shipments and supplying fuel stations according to approved operational plans, while the ministry is monitoring these measures in the field to ensure supply stability and the return of all fuel stations to normal operation as soon as possible.
The ministry confirmed that its priority at this stage is ending congestion and restoring normal operation of all fuel stations, ensuring smooth supply and improved services for citizens.
It also emphasized that developing the petroleum derivatives distribution system and automating inventory management at fuel stations is one of the projects included in the comprehensive energy sector reform plan, ensuring more efficient supply and distribution operations and preventing similar situations in the future.
7- On 5 July 2026, gasoline distribution requests began from the distribution centers in Baniyas and Homs to various provinces. The total number of scheduled shipments reached 305, with 24,000 liters per shipment, totaling 7.32 million liters, aimed at strengthening fuel station reserves and meeting increased demand.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that supplies are continuing normally and that recent congestion at some stations was due to an exceptional increase in demand, calling on citizens to refuel only when necessary to reduce pressure and ensure availability for everyone.
8- On 6 July 2026, 400 tankers were dispatched to supply fuel stations across various provinces with approximately 9.5 million liters of gasoline and diesel as part of an ongoing operational plan implemented by the Syrian Petroleum Company.
Mr. Akram Hammouda, Director General of the Syrian Petroleum Derivatives Company, confirmed that supplies remain available and that delivery operations continue around the clock to ensure market stability and meet citizens’ needs.
9- The implementation of the gas field development contract in the Central Region has begun through the handover of work sites to Saudi company ADES.
The project aims to develop the operational infrastructure of gas fields and increase production rates by 25% during the first six months of implementation, reaching 50% during the first year, raising production to approximately 4 million cubic meters of gas per day from the fields included in the contract. This will contribute to strengthening gas supplies needed for electricity generation.
Eng. Walid Al-Youssef, Deputy CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company for Exploration and Production, stated that handing over the work sites represents the actual launch of the project’s implementation phase, emphasizing cooperation with ADES to execute the contract according to the approved schedule while adhering to the highest standards of quality, safety, and security, utilizing modern technologies, and training national personnel.
10- The Water Resources Directorate in Aleppo inaugurated the Joint Station in eastern Aleppo countryside after completing its rehabilitation works in preparation for resuming pumping operations.
The station provides irrigation water for the Maskanah East projects covering approximately 21,000 hectares and supplies drinking water to more than 40 villages in the area, contributing to the stability of water services and supporting agricultural and service sectors.
The station is the second-largest pumping station in Aleppo province after Al-Babiri Station and forms an essential part of the irrigation and drinking water supply system in Aleppo countryside.
11- Technical teams at the General Water Supply and Sewerage Establishment in Deir ez-Zor, in cooperation with UNICEF, continue implementing a project to rehabilitate the water system in Al-Baghuz town in Al-Bukamal countryside, aiming to improve supply quality and ensure sustainable water access.
The project includes rehabilitating the town’s water system, constructing concrete reservoirs, networks, and a wastewater treatment plant with UNICEF support.
The project includes the construction of two concrete reservoirs, each with a capacity of 200 cubic meters, supplying several areas, as well as extending an 8-kilometer water network and installing pumping units to serve around 23,000 residents.
12- The General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam continues implementing the general maintenance program for the sixth turbine at the Tishreen Dam Power Plant through its technical, engineering, and administrative teams.
Maintenance works include rehabilitation of main and auxiliary systems, including turbine blade welding and maintenance of excitation, drive, and control systems.
These works contribute to improving the reliability of electricity generation and increasing the station’s readiness to support the national grid.
13- A delegation from the Ministry of Energy participated in the “Water Dialogues for Peace” meetings held in Jordan, with participation from delegations from Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Türkiye.
The meetings discussed major challenges facing the water sector, ways to enhance sustainable water resource management, exchange expertise, and strengthen regional cooperation to support water security and develop Syria’s water sector.
14- The Syrian Petroleum Company completed the construction of a new processing station at Tartous Terminal within 20 days, aiming to improve crude oil quality and enhance preparation efficiency before refining.
The station has an operating capacity of 10,000 barrels per day, with plans to increase it to 15,000 barrels per day.
15- The General Organization of Geology and Mineral Resources and the University of Aleppo signed a memorandum of understanding allowing geology students to receive field training in the organization’s projects, aiming to link education with the labor market and qualify specialized personnel in the mineral resources sector.
16- A project has been launched to rehabilitate the main drinking water pumping network in Ma’arzaf town in western Hama countryside, aiming to improve water access for more than 8,000 beneficiaries by replacing approximately 10 km of old networks, reducing losses, and improving service efficiency.
17- Drinking water pumping has fully resumed in Aleppo city after repairing technical faults that caused a 40% reduction in supply. Work continues to enhance the readiness of pumping stations and water networks to prevent recurring failures.
