After a Halt of Over 15 Years: Rehabilitation of the Apamea Pumping Station Supply Canal Enhances Irrigation Readiness in Rural Hama
The Water Resources Directorate in Hama is continuing rehabilitation work on the supply canal connecting the main Apamea Pumping Station to Canal (G3), alongside progress in rehabilitating the pumping station itself, after dredging and maintenance operations were suspended for over fifteen years.
The work includes removing accumulated silt deposits, clearing waste, and removing aquatic plants that obstructed water flow along the canal. This comes as part of a comprehensive process aimed at restoring operational efficiency and ensuring optimal, smooth water flow toward the pumping station.
This project falls under the Ministry of Energy’s plan to rehabilitate and maintain water resources infrastructure and enhance the readiness of pumping stations and water facilities. This, in turn, boosts the efficiency of the irrigation system, contributes to supporting agricultural stability, improves water resource management, and serves agricultural land across the region.
