Damascus University Geology Students Visit the Establishment to Observe Geological and Laboratory Operations
The General Establishment for Geology and Mineral Resources hosted third-year geology students from Damascus University for a field visit designed to provide insight into the nature of geological and laboratory work and to introduce the technologies and equipment used in the field.
The visit began with an introductory session in the auditorium, featuring a welcome address and an overview of the Establishment’s mandate, followed by a tour of the geological library. Additionally, in the digital mapping laboratory, students learned about the processes used to identify areas with mineral resource potential through satellite imagery and remote sensing technologies.
The visit included a tour of the geological museum and the various sections of the laboratories directorate, where students gained insight into laboratory workflows and the operation of specialized equipment. The tour concluded with an introduction to geophysical instruments and their application in geological studies.
The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand experience of the geological and laboratory work environment and to explore the range of technologies and equipment utilized by the Establishment.
