With the Aim of Serving 25,000 Residents: Launch of a 30-Kilometer Water Project in Salamiyah, Hama Countryside
The General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Hama Governorate, in cooperation with the Aga Khan Foundation, has announced the launch of a strategic project aimed at improving drinking water supply and increasing water availability for approximately 25,000 residents in the villages of Aqareb, Al-Mufakker Al-Sharqi, Jadoua, and Al-Mufakker Al-Gharbi, which are administratively affiliated with the Salamiyah subdistrict in the eastern countryside of Hama. The project will make use of water resources from wells in the Jabal Al-Shoumeriyah area.
The project includes the construction of a 30-kilometer main water transmission pipeline, with diameters ranging from 125 to 225 mm, extending from the elevated reservoir in the town of Berri Sharqi to the pumping reservoirs in the beneficiary villages. In parallel, the project includes the maintenance and rehabilitation of the elevated reservoirs, as well as the construction of an integrated pumping and control hall in Al-Mufakker Al-Sharqi, in preparation for equipping it with the mechanical and electrical equipment required for operation.
The project comes as a direct response to the limited water resources and insufficient water availability in the area. It will contribute to stabilizing drinking water pumping, improving service efficiency, and ensuring its sustainability for local residents, at a time when the company continues to implement projects to rehabilitate and develop water systems across various areas of the governorate, in coordination with supporting organizations, with the aim of improving services provided to citizens.
