Al-Bara Substation Returns to Service, Paving the Way for Electricity Supply to Wide Areas of Idlib’s Countryside
The Syrian Electricity Company has completed the rehabilitation and outfitting of the Al-Bara 66/20 kV substation in the Idlib countryside. The facility had previously ceased operations and suffered destruction due to the actions of the defunct regime; it is now fully operational again, paving the way for the restoration of electricity supplies to several areas in the Idlib countryside.
The work involved installing a main 30 MVA transformer and setting up control panels and circuit breakers, as well as connecting the 66 kV high-voltage lines originating from the Zayzun and Basida substations in the governorate's countryside.
Restarting the substation paves the way for the return of electricity to the areas of Kafr Nabl, Hass, and Kafruma, the western countryside of Maarat al-Nu'man, and several villages in Jabal al-Zawiya. This initiative is part of broader efforts to rehabilitate the electrical grid and restore service to areas that had been without power for years.
The Ministry of Energy extends its thanks and appreciation to the technical and engineering staff and the Syrian Electricity Company teams in Idlib who contributed to the rehabilitation and outfitting work, commending their efforts to bring electrical facilities back online and support the restoration of power to affected areas.
