Enhancing the readiness of irrigation and drainage networks in Raqqa through maintenance and desilting works across several sectors

The Raqqa Water Resources Directorate is carrying out maintenance and desilting operations across several irrigation and drainage sectors to enhance system readiness and improve water conveyance and drainage efficiency.
These works included repairing fractures and voids in the "Wadi al-Fayd" canal; desilting a 1-kilometer stretch of the "Al-Khazzanat" canal; repairing voids in the "High-Lift" (Al-Raf' al-Ali) and "Al-Sawt" canals; desilting a 400-meter section; installing flow-measuring gates; and maintaining conveyance channels (flumes) and aqueducts. Additionally, a 100-meter drainage channel was excavated in "Tal al-Samn."
In the fourth and fifth sectors, repairs were made to voids in the "EST33" canal, and flow-measuring gates were installed. Operations also included desilting the "HB7" canal and the "Zor al-Hamrat" drain, as well as desilting a 300-meter secondary drain in "Kasrat Afnan." In the "Hammam al-Turkman" area, a 400-meter stretch of the "Al-Tawal" river was desilted. These measures help minimize water loss and blockages, enhance the reliability of irrigation and drainage networks, and support agricultural stability in Raqqa Governorate.
