Reactivation of the sandblasting workshop at the Euphrates Dam and completion of maintenance on Repair Gate No. 2, following a shutdown of over ten years

Maintenance teams at the Euphrates Dam General Establishment have restored the dam’s sandblasting workshop to operational status after a hiatus of over ten years. This initiative is part of a periodic maintenance program aimed at enhancing the technical readiness of the dam's vital facilities
The workshop carried out comprehensive cleaning of Repair Gate No. 2, removing accumulated iron oxides, barnacles, and deposits via sandblasting. Subsequently, the gate’s surface was coated with three layers of specialized epoxy—designed for insulation and protection against corrosion and rust—thereby bolstering the gate's durability and operational efficiency
Repair Gate No. 2 is a critical component of the dam’s infrastructure; it is utilized to isolate and dewater power generation units, enabling the execution of general and preventive maintenance programs, extending equipment lifespan, and enhancing operational reliability
The work was completed entirely by local teams at the Euphrates Dam, utilizing necessary technical resources and adhering to occupational safety protocols. This achievement demonstrates the readiness of national technical teams and their capability to efficiently rehabilitate vital equipment
The Ministry of Energy commends the technical staff at the Euphrates Dam for their efforts in executing maintenance work and reactivating the sandblasting workshop, affirming that such professional performance strengthens the dam's operational readiness and ensures continuity of service in accordance with required technical standards
